Internship Placement
In order to expose the students to the functions and culture of organized institutions, Career Guidance Office (CGO) provides official support to the students who wish to search for an internship placement. CGO also arranges internship with the successful organizations and financial institutions by itself for the students.
Application Procedure: The CGO maintains the following five (5) steps to process the application for internship placement.
Step 1: Career Service wing collects Internship Intention Forms 3 weeks before the semester begins for the prospective interns.
Step 2: If students wish to search for an internship placement at their own initiative, forwarding letters are made available. Alternatively, CGO also processes student’s application letters to forward to the respective organizations / institutions. In that case, students have to allow at least three weeks for the organizations to respond after the letters are sent.
Step 3: Then the employers will make shortlist of CVs and call for an interview. Note that they may or may not call at all. There is no graduate that an interview call will secure a position. Office used to wait until all the organizations have responded. If all are responded negatively, office will try to place interns at their own choice of organizations. On the other hand, if one has applied for a placement at his/ her own initiative and no organization has responded, in this case students have to notify the office earlier.
Step 4: Once selected for an internship students are advised to submit a copy of the letter of contact to the office within 7 days of joining. No late submission is accepted. Once a placement is accepted, students have to complete 12 weeks of attachment with the organization.
Step 5: Once students have confirmed their registration and paid to the accounts, a copy need to be submitted to the office. Office has to attach intern with an Academic Supervisor for the next 12 weeks. In case of choice of advisor is at the discretion of the concerned department and not the student. Finally, office receives grades from academic supervisor and on-site supervisor and students’ grade are sent to the Office of the Controller of Examinations.
